Presenters Choice,Presenters/Programs,Unknown — ghi07, January 29, 2011, 11:42 pm

A great way to finish the working week is to listen to “Juicy Music” with Charles Agius on Alive 90.5 each Friday from 9.00 till noon.

A popular feature of his program is the 10.30 am “Exercise Segment” – during which his listeners can enjoy some fast-paced music and get fit too!Charles plays a great mix of classic hits together with some of the latest popular tracks that you’re sure to enjoy.

Charles is probably the only radio program presenter with a doctorate in music – and he still enjoys teaching piano & keyboard, guitar and vocals to students at his Baulkham Hills Studio. He also entertains people around the clubs with a tribute show called “Legends of the Past” in which he performs many of the songs made famous by Billy Joel.

His motto is: “I love all forms of music – and if it’s good – I’ll play it!”

John Robb and Lord Pig: Rock N Roll Smorgasbord

John Robb, regular guest "The King" and Lord Pig hard at work in studio 2

Every Monday night from 8PM John Robb is joined by Lord Pig for Rock N Roll Smorgasboard. The show features a wide variety of music, focusing on new and unsigned talent (including bands from Holroyd, Parramatta and the Hills) mixed in with well known artists. John Robb has been hosting the show for over 16 years and is now also joined by Lord Pig each week.

Along with the great music, there are a few sections that are, well… unique!

  • Dodgy Song: At 9.00pm the boys dig out and play a dodgy song… A track that is really bad or poorly recorded or something just downright ridiculous!!
  • 78RPM: At 9.30pm hear a real blast from the past when the Smorgasbord plays an old 78RPM record… scratches and all. No digital enhancement, just the original 10 inch record.
  • John Robb and Lord Pig discussing which analogue music file to play next!

  • In Concert: At 10pm hear three tracks recorded live! If you’re in a band and have recorded one of your gigs, send it in to be included in the segment.
  • Weekly World News: After “In Concert” you can hear Weekly World News: News from around the world that you won’t hear on other news broadcasts. It truly is unique!
  • Poetry: What Rock and Roll show would be complete without a dose of poetry? The Rock N Roll Smorgasboard has you covered! John Robb and Lord Pig have recently been asking regular listeners to send in their poetry, either by email or fax, or as a CD. This segment is proving popular with their regular listeners, and has had people putting in huge efforts for the show.

Brian Lankow: Sounds Like Gospel

Sounds like Gospel was first broadcast in December 1992. Since then, the programme has been presented every Sunday afternoon between 4pm and 6pm on Alive 90.5, your community radio station.

The programme is made up of contemporary Christian music with bridging viewpoints to entertain and inform the listeners, whether they are churched or unchurched.

Throughout the 19 years, an endeavour has been maintained in ensuring the music is up-to-date and relevant to the current times.  To do this, a different topic is picked each week and the music for the two hour program is tailored to fit no only the subject of the day, but to be aligned to the current news of the day where relevant.

Studio guests are often involved with their special music as we publicise a variety of local church activities

Sounds like Gospel is pleased to be the longest running programme on Alive 90.5, and we are also pleased that over the intervening years we have maintained regular sponsorship arrangements with local and local churches and schools.

Royce Burkett and Cameron Fahey: Rock, Roll and Remember

Presenters Choice,Presenters/Programs — ghi07, , 12:48 pm

Hosted by Royce Burkett or Cameron Fahey each Saturday night from 9pm to midnight, “Rock, Roll and Remember” takes you on a three hour nostalgic journey back to the music of the 50′s, 60′s and 70′s (give or take a decade or so).

It’s more music and less talk as you hear the hits (and misses) of the earlier days of Rock ‘N’ Roll.  Relive hits of the past including instrumentals, novelty songs and sometimes country music.

Hear artists like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Johnny O’Keefe, Elton John, ABBA, Little Pattie, Noeleen Batley, Patsy Ann Noble, Connie Francis, Buddy Holly, The Everly Brothers, Bill Haley & His Comets, Chuck Berry, Girl Groups (The Ronettes, The Shirelles, The Supremes, etc), Doris Day, Bobby Rydell, Gene Pitney, Cat Stevens, The Rolling Stones, The Hollies, Cliff Richard, Dusty Springfield, Roy Orbison, The Beach Boys, The Shadows, and sometimes country singers (Slim Dusty, Don Gibson, etc), and a whole lot more!

Like to hear something special? Easy! Just phone the studio on 9686 3888 to request a song.  You can also call Royce or Cameron to announce your special occasion such as a birthday, engagement or wedding.

Whatever the reason, just call! Royce and Cameron love to hear from you and to chat about music.
