The music we present here at Alive 90.5 can be split into two groups:

Station music

The music we bring you in programs such as Breakfast, Drive and Overnight is a special blend of (mostly) smooth hits. Sometimes it’s easier to define by describing what it is not:

  • It’s not heavy rock.
  • It’s not rap
  • It’s not electronic, techno or punk.
  • It’s not bluegrass or country.
  • It’s not classical.
  • It’s not dance or disco.

It’s a blend of music you will recognise from the 60s through to now. It’s a blend of artists such as Air Supply, America, The Beatles, Bryan Ferry, Carpenters, Doobie Brothers, Dusty Springfield, Eric Clapton, Eurythmics, Fleetwood Mac, Human Nature, Jenny Morris, Joe Cocker, John Farnham, Kylie Minogue, Little River Band, Madonna, Nelly Furtado, Pink Floyd, Police, Powderfinger, R.E.M., Sade, Santana, Shania Twain, Sheryl Crow, Simply Red, Tears For Fears, The Bee Gees, The Coors, Tina Arena, Tracey Chapman, Van Morrison and Wendy Matthews.
